5x7 oil on canvas board. I'm trying to make as many oil sketches as I can this year. Experimenting with different palette colors and wanting to keep the brush strokes lively in an alla prima style. Today I used my new glass palette insert and the wooden 10x12 pochade box I bought from Madison Art Store.
I had to paint inside today--the wind was crazy, and it looked like rain most of the day. So unfortunately, I had to work from photographs that I took of African Irises in my front garden. It was enjoyable in the studio, but I missed the outdoors. Luckily the birds came to visit, perching just inches from my nature window. ;) If you want to see a few progression photos of this little painting, they are on my facebook page. www.facebook.com/studio318 Please feel free to "like" my page for more painting updates.

I will find you on FB!!
