Tulips for Parkinson's in the Park

After days of getting the landscape beds cleaned out and replanted (an endless activity it seems), I'm finally getting a morning in the art studio. I had this pencil sketch of tulips ready to paint for the Parkinson's in the Park event that is coming up in April.

Later this afternoon I hope to finish some Easter egg decorating; I'm trying very hard not to visit Home Depot or Lowes today! :)

Hydrangea (detail)

hydrangeas detail, originally uploaded by studio318.
A closer view of the tiny blossom bunch I did in watercolor and ink. I'm enjoying my small, Strathmore Visual Journal with the 140 lb. watercolor paper (5.5 x 8 inches). It's a spiral construction, so it lies flat. The pages are rather sturdy, so I can get a bit sloppy with the water without too much fear of pages tearing under my brush.

On the art desk.

So, I was inspired by a photo of a hydrangea blossom and made an attempt at a quick journal page. I was happy with the little bit that I managed to complete. Some days, you just have to grab whatever art time you can!
