I was attempting a quick modified blind contour sketch while enjoying my coffee at Starbucks. Not much time, but it was fun to just try to follow the linear path ... color added with watercolors. Oh the poor, unsuspecting man trying to enjoy a coffee and a cigarette outside! Beware of the sketchers!
I found my carving kit in a drawer of the studio along with 2 new white erasers... so I carved a new stamp to go along with a journal spread I was working on... when I was done with the fish, I decided to try this little bird too. It was very relaxing. :)
I used my inexpensive drawing paper to play with watercolors--then I added graphite lines and some shading, and finally I used some watercolor pencils to add more texture over the washes. These were relaxing and spontaneous... a nice way to spend the late afternoon.
Charcoal and watercolor pencils in my small Moleskine.
I can't believe it is the end of 2007... strange how the time has accelerated with each passing year. A lot has been accomplished since January---my teaching certification is now complete. I have 3 subject areas that I can explore (K-12), and a decision about my masters degree is my next adventure.
