Cattails and Red-wings

This morning I started walking again. It's been around 2 months since my ankle fracture, and it was great to be able to walk around the lake at a good pace. It was a muggy start to the day, but the birds were singing, the turtles were poking their little heads above the water line, and the cattails were silhouetted against the sparkling lake. Nice.

Squeezing in some art!

Pastels and ink my large Moleskine.

Pastels for the tulip study on textured paper and colored pencils and ink for the abstract spread.

Pastels in my small Moleskine... sprayed with fixative.

Even with all the academic projects going on, I did manage to sit and do some art during my first week off from work. It felt great to play with art supplies again.

Pastel study

This morning in the studio... hard Nupastels in my small Moleskine. I added a textured, peach colored, Mi-Teintes paper on the right- hand side, because I wanted texture for the pear study. The left-hand side is plain Moleskine paper. I don't have soft pastels, so I used what I had available. It's always fun to try and use large sticks of color. It keeps me from getting too obsessed with details.

Send them to me...

It's June 1st. My first year has ended as an assistant teacher, and I'm now certified to teach K-12. I'm waiting for God to send me my own kids. I can't wait to be with them, and I hope they will enjoy me. :)
