More internet time!

I just purchased a new laptop this evening, so now I can continue my web surfing adventures late into the night while hubby watches football or falls asleep (ha ha!). And with wireless internet, I can check on my favorite blogs and websites from any room in the house. Happy New Years to me! See you all in 2007. :)

Playing with the new digital camera

My eyes in black and white. (Sorry folks, no make-up today!) LOL
A540 Canon digital. Adjusted the contrast in Photoshop Elements.
Now I need to get back to studying for the General Knowledge Exam for teacher certification. Let's see, this will be test #3 of 6 that I plan to take. I just passed the K-6 Elementary exam (Florida) on December 22nd, so that's finished! I might as well keep the tests coming, as I'm already in study mode.
I promise I'll draw something today. It will be a much deserved study break. ;)

Pastels and Watercolors

A small journal entry to get my art brain back in the groove of creativity. Pastels, watercolors and Rotring ArtPen in my large Moleskine.

Changes at Blogger

It seems like a good time for changes as the New Year approaches. Apparently Blogger has become "new and improved" since I last posted. I haven't had time to nose around to see what has been added... maybe this afternoon... there's so little time!

I've managed to get the holiday decorations packed away and the house back in order. I usually leave everything out a bit longer, but I wanted to make sure I had some quiet, relaxing time before I headed back to work. It feels good to catch up on laundry and create some feeling of organization.

There are two pots of homemade soup simmering on the burners as I type... chicken with barley and pea soup with ham. YUM. I love chopping up veggies to make soup--sort of meditative in a strange way. It drives my Golden Retriever crazy when the kitchen fills up with these delicious aromas! He's hoping for a bite of Mama's chicken. :)

I plan on sketching this afternoon--as soon as I locate my current Moleskine. Somehow I've misplaced it, but I'm sure it will turn up around here if I dig into the art studio piles.

I wish everyone a fantastic New Years Eve and Day! Be safe!!!

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas Friends!

I'm officially off work until January 2nd. My first week at home was spent studying for the K-6 subject area exam which I took on Friday. I passed it just fine, so now I can teach elementary school as well as high school.

For the next week, I plan on enjoying my family, reading books and magazines that have piled up around here, baking, and resting. :) I have big plans to dig out the art materials too, and I hope I hold myself to it. I miss sketching in my journal.

I wish you all a wonderful Christmas. May God's blessing fill your hearts today and always!
