All hubby Jeff wanted was a comfy leather chair for Father's Day, one that reclined a bit... the feet elevated. That scared me to death, for I have a phobia of "recliners" and all that implies. We found one that I could live with... introducing the "Drake", a lovely soft, brown leather wing back that still looks like a chair. It sits in the corner near the fireplace with my favorite stained glass lamp. The bamboo shades stretch across the double set of sliding doors that look out onto our pool area... the shades add a lovely texture and warmth to the room. I love seeing him sitting here at night as we have our coffee and kahlua together. He doesn't look "old" at all... very sophisticated. Yeah, very classy. :) And yes, I really do have "wine-colored" walls, for I love jewel tones.

OH -- the chair looks comfy and warm -- LOVE the sketch and watercolor!!! The room looks so warm and inviting!
ReplyDeleteKM I think this may be the most inviting sketch you've done! though they're all marvelous. You have been so into it!producing an entire body-of-work. Hurrah for you doing all that sketching in public! This comfy chair pic shows the relaxed artist loving her home and that's pretty cool.
ReplyDeleteYes, I absolutely love my home. It represents warmth, security, love... it is only just 2000 square feet, but we pack a lot of life in here--great memories! LOL Thanks for picking up on my passion. ;)
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely beautiful interior sketch. It does look like there is lots of love in there.
ReplyDeleteI've also got a phobia about recliners. I think you compromised beautifully with this chair. It is very elegant. Lovely painting too Kathleen. So rich, cosy and inviting. :o)
ReplyDeleteI found a similar compromise for my husband's recliner. What is it about those darn things? The traditional ones are so ugly, but so comfortable...
ReplyDeleteGreat drawing of both interiors. I love the warm colors and inviting feeling of the pages.
I have a similar dread of recliners - ugly, horrible upholstery etc But I do like the drawing of yours! Its such a delight seeing these sketches of yours.
